Nay Saying MLM Leaders Who Bash Social Networks & Discourage their Group from Using

IMO, Bad Advice that Self-Sabotages themselves and their Downline

I LikeWhat prompted me to write this article is …

I was recently on a conference call, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing by this respected MLM leader. They were bashing the use of social networks, and called it a DISTRACTION from building a business. They actually discouraged their downline to use them.

Hopefully, I can help set the record straight.

Sure, it CAN be a distraction to somebody IF they’re not disciplined. But the PHONE can be a distraction, too, can’t it?

Just like the phone is a TOOL for communicating and developing relationships, so are the written communications on Social Networks a TOOL. It’s just ANOTHER communication tool!

Would I bash the phone because IT causes rejection when my distributors use it? Of course not. Clearly, my distributor is not using it properly, and causing their own rejection, AND their own lack of results.

So why would anybody bash social networks? They’re just communication TOOLS, just like the phone is a tool for communication, aren’t they?

Both can be used to create new relationships, and move a relationship in the direction where one gets to know, like, and trust you. Once that is done, sponsoring becomes much easier. Again, people buy from those they know, like and trust.

When phone technology came out, did people bash using phones as a tool for building their relationships? Were they stuck in time, saying that only MAILED LETTERS or FACE-to-FACE communications are the best way and ONLY way to create business by developing relationships?

Do we bash social networking events done in person? Of course, not. Because the networking is VIRTUAL, does that really make any difference? No.

Communication technology keeps on moving forward, and it will keep moving whether one wants to acknowledge it or not. Communication technology has changed the way civilizations interact with each other.

The Internet has created a smaller world, and has created a world where people can communicate to each other from anywhere on planet Earth. I find this a GOOD thing, as it creates more understanding between people.

Why wouldn’t anybody want to go WHERE the conversations are? That’s social networking. You can join an existing conversation or start a new one. In marketing, isn’t that what you’re trying to do?

Of course, you have to be smart about it, and not be rude. You can’t constantly hammer people on social media with your sales pitch, anymore than you’d be an obnoxious dinner guest at a party, who talks nothing, but, about themselves and their business.

The ONLY reason I can ever imagine an MLM leader ever bashing social networking is because they either didn’t do it themselves, OR they didn’t learn HOW to do it right, and so never became effective.

THEY failed. So they’re passing faulty reason to others that it’s useless, and a waste of time.

Here is a reminder about the importance of social media, and how it’s changing the WAY we communicate, today. Old school network marketing leaders better learn it, or they will see their organizations eventually die, IMO.

“We’re evolving. And if you don’t change with it, you get to lose. And that makes me happy as a capitalist. You DESERVE to lose. You deserve to lose if you do not evolve with the market we actually live in. It’s 2014. Get off your ass, start understanding what’s actually happening, pay attention, and don’t think it’s silly.”

– Gary Vaynerchuk, author of “Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World”

Being a true leader requires being on the LEADING EDGE.

Sadly, the problem is in this Network Marketing leaders confusion and misunderstanding.

If you disagree with me or this MLM leader, I’d love to hear your comment.
